I'm looking to replace the clutch on my 996 soon and am calling round for quotes - these are coming in quite high and it would be worth applying a 10% club discount if available. im based in Burton on trent and am therefore able to use specialists in both the east and west mids - any suggestions as to which garages will apply a club discount?

Hartech list 996 clutch change at £600+VAT (but the list is dated Jan 07).

(Much) further afield, Jon Mitchell has it at £780 to £820 depending on exact model.

I would never ring round for quotes. If you use one garage & build a relationship with them you will always get better service. Think. The guy doing your clutch may never see the car again. Will he bother to torque things up right. If he strips a bolt out will he just leave it knowing it won't be his problem next time? If a garage has so little business that there keen to quote are they any good? My advice. Find someone who knows what hes doing & then let him look after it long term. The mechanic will get some job satisfaction & your car will be in much better condition long term. If anything isn't right you know who to blame for it! Your cars a bit speical. Keep it that way. :)

Cool.

I've always used Porsche Nottingham and they have quote £2k plus for the clutch on my turbo. I'm not looking to go with the cheapest option but would like a recommendation from the club for a decent and reliable specialist and i'll probably end up using them long term. i'll try the ones recommended and let you have some feedback.
