Re-paint or repairable?

Hi,

Clay barred and waxed the car on saturday - hard work but fun.

I noticed some clearcoat bubbling and a couple of touch up pen repairs, also the normal deepish paint scratches and staining from the washer jets.

I used the claybar and HD cleanse but could not shift them - would a pro with cutting agents and a buffer be able to repair them or is it just respray time? (my cars is metallic black / phantom black?)

Thanks

Graham

pics would help..but bubbling usually means respray. Polishing will normally take the top coat down to the lower level of any scratch to loose it. If the bubbling is pushing the paint up then it means the metal surface is to blame and not the paint.

However get a detailer to look at it... you never know

I'll get some photos at the weekend. It does not seem to be the paint just the clear coat - does that sound possible? it looks a bit like when you start to peel after getting burnt.

it could be the laquer lifting where it has not bonded to the paint..for all sorts of reasons. The tell tale signs are white edges around where the laquer has gone if it has. If its just bubbling and it is the laquer its only a matter of time. if it is the laquer then in effect as its part of the paintwork its a body shop job.

However if you can get pics then I am sure we will have a better idea.
