You do not have to be a rocket scientist to work out that this 10k walk will be painful for me.
On Saturday 19th July, I am joining my Clacket Lane and Maidstone teams on the walk at Sissinghurst.
To donate to Marie Currie

Good effort I'll put something over during the week! Everyone starts somewhere, I hope you enjoy it and it's a great cause.
Have you got a training plan for it, might be worth doing a few shorter walks up to the day just so you're a bit more used to it?
I've done a lot of endurance cycling events recently and the best advice I can give from my experience is take plenty to drink and most importantly do things at your own pace that you're comfortable with rather than pushing yourself to maintain someone else's. Prepare for the weather well be it hot, cold or wet, I was freezing in the rain two weeks ago borderline hypothermia not bad for the end of June.
Good luck mate.
Edited to add I donated £20 just above Jim but it came up anonymous somehow!

Good luck mate
Try and do some calf stretches (with and without bent knee) everyday before the event.
Also try and massage your feet and stretch the foot and toes.
Or stand/sit and use a golf ball, roll your foot along and stretch the muscles under the foot (not too hard)
Also the muscle on the front of the lower leg on the outside of your shin bone, use something to lubricate, natural oil (olive oil is fine) or E45 moisturiser
Start just above the ankle, use both sets of fingers, push in (not too deep) and draw up toward the knee, do this a few times to stretch the fibes and loosen this up.
Give me a call if you want any more advice

Good luck Sean - I hope you not only meet your target ( very nearly, almost there I noticed just now ) but stroll leisurely past it and on to an even bigger total for the charity.
Enjoy the event with smiles.

You lot are impatient.
It was an evening walk, followed by live band and fireworks.
Probably not even home yet.
