I have to replace a couple of 225/40's on my turbo, thinking about Pirelli P zero's to match the pair on the back unless someone has other suggestions, I only do 2-3k road miles a year so I'd be happy with 15k out of them.

I have some Toyo T1 S on the car at the moment, they are good so far in terms of grip in all weathers. Not sure about the wear yet. Done a fair few thousand so far.

They are better than the T1Rs I had before which squealed a lot!

They are pricey, others will say I have lost my mind, but the Michelin Pilots seem to really suit my car. I am on a different size to you though (205/50R17 which Promax seem to oddly suggest), but it does drive alot better than my old S2 did. On other cars I have had great results with tyre wear and grip with Michelins as well.

On previous cars I have driven with T1-Rs I have never been that impressed (including when I fitted them to one of my own cars). Soft sidewalls which do give a comfy ride, but they seem to lack bite in the corners if I am honest. Saying that, one friend of mine hates them more than I do, yet another sees them as a good alternative to Goodyear Eagle F1s. They are progressive yes, but I have found Kumho KU31s to be grippier I hate to say!

KU31s are not bad IME on the cheaper end of the market. I have not driven with Pirelli P Zeros for quite some time so am not in a position to comment on them.

Conti Sport Contacts are a great tyre, but for me (well, when on the daily) I could not get the mileage out of them.

Not sure about the Pirelli P Zero's, but I have heard terrible things about the P6000's. I have Conti Sport Contacts which I am perfectly happy with.

I have had Toyo T1Rs and Toyo T1sport on my S2 225/40/17 front and rear with the first set lasting around 14K miles, I found them very good value and performance great in the dry and as good as I expected in the wet. Obviously no turbo performance so can't say how they would perform on your car. Currently have Toyo T1Sport on the front and Uniroyal rainsport2 on the rear and that combination is brilliant for me excellent in the dry and same in the wet.

I have Bridgestone S-02's on the Turbo and I'm quite impressed with them although the car came with them on so don't know if they are worth the price. The 968 has Pirelli P Zero's on and I wouldn't buy them again they just don't inspire confidence and IMO feel a bit vague when turning in.

Having second thoughts about the P Zero's it's only the fact they're on the back and I like the same make all round, but they're one of those tyres that don't have tread the full width of the tyre ie the 265's on the back looked stretched on 10" rims despite being the correct size and N3's.

That's 18" rim right?

Pilot sports I think are best Iv found so far. Bridgestones seem quite heavy. My front 8" wheels where heavyer then 10" rear

i have P Zero's on my 944 cab and had them on my S2, would not buy them again. they are over priced. i have been impressed with toyos on the last 2 track days and will be buying toyo R1R's next, ( mainly road with some track use).
but tyre choice is very personal and has started many an argument down the pub!

Seems like there's several P Zero's varying between £100 up to £150 for 225/40's. I have Pilot Sports on the front now so may go for those again. This is on 18's, I fancy a set of 17" clubsport wheels but prices have got silly for old wheels.

I drive a Puma as a daily driver and it has rainsport2's on it and they are really good. I'm looking to put new tyres on my S2 and had not considered rainsports, what speed rating have you fitted?

I have used Toyo Proxes on my Turbo since 2007 but will probably change to Barum Bravarius 2 next time as I have had to change them due to age not life! (dont use it as much as I would like to)
I kept a record of this earlier recommendation for future ref. (Don't think Jon at JMG will mind me reiterating it)

Barum are part of continental and this tyre has been made as their market offering in the same way Toyo entered the performance market years ago with their Proxy tyres, as such, at the moment the price is great and the performance is awesome. Bet in a year or two they will be priced much higher. A soft compound, so will probably not last 50,000 miles, but the average Porsche often needs tyres because of age rather than wear, and soft tyres are sticky tyres."

I was a passenger in Jon's white Turbo round Belton Park and the Barum Bravarius 2 Tyres performed really well in the dry, they were very grippy (my stomache told me so )

Just to add I rarely use the car in the wet and it's on KW's so perhaps soft sidewalls aren't what I'm looking for. As I said I would like tyres with full width tread unlike the P Zero's that have curved sidewalls so although they're 265's the actual tread width is more like 240mm .
