Sat Nav failed

Hello
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
My sat nav unit has stopped receiving GPS signals. The unit tries to function, but it thinks I'm somewhere else, and the NAV status page states that no satellites are being received. All other PCM functions work correctly.
I have tried the following:
Reset the unit by pressing 148 on the keypad.
Removed the fuse to try a reset (leaving it overnight to make sure!)
Checked the connections to the back of the dvd drive unit (but not the head unit because I can't remove it)
Checked, as best I can, the antenna and its connection.
All seem ok but nothing has had any effect.
It seems to me that the drive unit has partially failed (the gps receiver bit), but sourcing a new one in the UK seems impossible without going to a Porsche dealer and paying a fortune.
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks very much
Jtoneil

Hi there, what type of car is it and what model unit have you got. It does sound a lot like it has failed and when you can pick a new tom tom up for under £100? Is it worth it?

I realised I had omitted some vital info (like model and year!) but I was unable to edit my post until it had been approved. It's a 2007 Cayman.
I know you can buy TomTom for £100 but if you pay for integrated satnav then it's probably worth trying to fix it when it breaks. Besides, it wouldn't look good when I come to sell it on.
If the dvd unit has failed then is there a supplier I could buy direct from? I haven't found one outside the US so far.
Thanks
jt

For the benefit of anyone else searching forums for the same problem (which I did extensively) I've fixed the problem: it was the antenna. I didn't realise that the antenna was a piece of circuitry; it looked just like a metal plate from the tight angle I viewed it from. But after figuring out how to get proper access to it I saw it was a bit more than that, and as such it was possible it could have failed. So I replaced it and sat nav was restored.
Cheers

Well I guess I must have been extremely lucky. No Sat Nag

No Speed Limiter

, the Wife just wouldn't

go in the Turbo so I had to do my own Mapping beforehand but it was well worth it for the piece & quiet - just the slight engine, wind & tyre noise to accompany me on my average 111 miles per trip outings.

I do like a good result, thanks for letting us know. I've read threads on other forums about fitting 2 din, touch screen units. The issue then is getting a piece of trim to fit round and make it look as if it was factory fit.
