Hello
I am new to this along with being a porsche owner but I have a real predicament. Burgled Sun evening and the only porsche key was stolen - my husband interrupted the thieves so we still have vehicle thankfully - no joy with police tracing the key so how to we go about getting a new key - can porsche do one just from chassis number?
House insurance and car insurance can't help as neither cover just keys going missing so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Have V5 etc.

Thank you in advance.

Been there done that. If you phone your local OPC & give them your VIN No. they'll order you a key. When it arrives you'll need V5 & proof of ID & it'll need coding to the car.

Thanks for this - any ideas on cost of this? Also will the coding part mean that we'll have to get the vehicle to the dealer or is there a way it can be done at our home.
Absolute nightmare!

My 944 key without the built in electronics was around £30, I suspect the Boxster key will be a fair bit more as it has the immobiliser installed in the key.
A good auto locksmith may be able to code the key but you'll have to ring around to find out, in fact they maybe able to supply & match a key. Have a ring around & see.
Where are you, it would be worth asking the OPCs advice as well.

Hi thanks again. I'm in Wakefield - local OPC is Leeds so I'll give them a ring in the morning and see what they say.

For something on another forum. Quote is from Mike @ Sports and Classic.

But what about the key they have? Could they come and take the car in the middle of the night?

You really don't want to look at this. £1,076!!!!! Insurance must pay out for theft.

Thanks - Insurance would pay for theft of vehicle but not just keys - they only give £100 towards cost of replacing! :(

Hi all thanks again for advice - good news Police just called and they have found the key!!! Happy days.
For future forum users - Strasse in Leeds quoted £200 plus VAT to replace key and reprogram remote. Blade has to be ordered in from Germany takes 5-7 days and then they would program remote to the vehicle. This was all from chassis number and on the proviso the locks had never been changed on the vehicle. To replace locks they quoted £500 plus VAT all in.

Well done, so glad it all worked out. Are you going to get a spare key? Thank you for letting us know you got the problem resolved, it annoys me when I don't get closure on an issue.

A word of advice, get a spare key & get the two reprogrammed to the car, this will clear any previous keys from the system just in case it has been copied.
