It'll definitely be a minimum of a lounge suit, probably black tie knowing the French.
I'm just taking a decent pair of Chinos & maybe a jacket.

Our convoy (944, 924 and MGB) have had a conflab recently and we were working out the essential things to take/organise. Apart from the list in the Travel Destinations handbook, we came up with....
Toilet roll in the car (for the trip down).
Getting the passenger as a named driver on the insurance in case the driver got sick.
Says it all really.

Sticker is now on the car, 6 days and counting!!!
Mathew (MGB roadster) and I (924) are going on a 100 mile shakedown trip tomorrow. "B" was only doing 9MPG earlier this week (to and from work about 2 miles), hope we can get that number up otherwise we will be stopping for fuel every 10 minutes

We wandered the paddocks in shorts and T/shirts last time.

We wandered around everywhere in shorts & flip flops last time!
Very laid back affair, more of a social outing with some good old school racing thrown into the mix!!!
Going out on Thursday morn 08:00, return 12:00 Monday.
See you all there

The TD info booklet says "tailored shorts are fine".
You obviously have superior shorts Sean!
The back of the tickets has little drawings of clothing items which are "interdit" in the paddock and grandstand along with big red crosses. It makes it look like all clothes are banned and Le Mans Classic is a naturist event.

Oh BUM!
Paul's 944 has gone U/S to use the aviation term! No spark, no rev counter bounce. Just spent 3 hours working on it. The DME is OK as it works on mine. The sensors have a resistance of around 995 Ohms which looks good.
Mine is overdue a belt change which I don't have time to do before we leave so we're going to use the Jag.

Oh no!
Bet Paul is gutted. Did he tell you that there was a big puddle of water under the car when he came back from Goodwood on Friday? Has he cooked the head gasket (although it should still start).
Is coil goosed?

Yup Paul is gutted. The leak we think is a sh**ged rad cap as the seal isn't brilliant. It hasn't done it since so could just be the heat on Friday.
Nope plenty of coolant in it, it has no spark & no rev counter bounce. Which is normally DME (ECU) or crank position sensors. So we've changed the DME relay, belled through the sensors (998 ohms or thereabouts) from the DME plug. Put his DME in my car where it is fine. The coil is suspect as are the sensors.

I've got a good coil off the old 924 if that is any good. Shout if you want me to drop it over tomorrow night.

Pretty sure the 924 coil is different to the 944 one as the 944 one is driven from the DME. TBH we could've nicked mine of my 944 but decided not to.

Yup irony of it is he's owned the car 5 years & it has never failed to start! It obviously is scared of the French

Typical. It's brilliant weather forecast all week at Le Mans, but thunderstorms Saturday. Hope forecast turns out wrong!

Don't you have a Tipec brolly?
On a serious note anyone making the Chunnel crossing at 7.20am on Friday morning should look out for us on the car park at the terminal - we'll try hard to stand out!!
If we drive over to the train together we've a better chance of keeping together for the crossing and on the other side
See you all Friday
Paul
