Do you know what years that this part was fitted to the 924 Simon?

Hi Paul , not sure what years but they fit the 944 style gearbox not the snail shell box so late 924 I guess .
Bought a pair of Sebro drilled discs from Euro's today . £78 for the pair which is a good price I would have thought if anyone looking . Not sure the holes do much , maybe a bit of street cred down at McDonalds car park , but do match the 993 RS front discs so pleasing to the eye !

Another weird thing today . My 19mm wishbone pins turned up today and I went to fit them but found the brass cup was a very loose fit in both wishbones , like 1/2mm gap all the way around but not just at the bottom of the cup but equal all the way down which is why I had not noticed before . I have replaced the pins on probably half dozen wishbones but never had this . I have had a few bad ones that are out of shape at the ball part from wear but not equal all the way down the cup as though done on purpose . Do the Hartech machine their replacement type wishbones ?
Still I had a spare set so stripped them ready for blasting .

Hartech used to be the main supplier to most reputable indys, perhaps someone else is having a go at it now. Not sure if 968 arms are as easy to rebuild either. Re the drilled discs, there used to be issues with cracking around the holes, don't know if that applied to Porsche supplied parts though. The punched 370mm discs on my Cupra R are Audi TT-RS parts, and SEAT want around £600 a pair for those. The pads are expensive too, and come with metal reinforcing pins in the friction material.

I thought that Hartech could fit an insert into the arm, when machining it too?

Yes they did, quite a complex process I semi to remember reading

Well it looks like I found the reason .
As I never throw much away, I found the ball joints I removed last year and yes they are a style of cartridge or enclosed plastic cup. I could not have been paying attention at the time when taking apart.
They fit perfect in the first set of arms which have been machined wider to accept .
Compare the other ball joint and the usual broken plastic cup . I would have replaced anyway as water has got in causing corrosion . I wonder who supplies these cartridges to Hartech ?
Still the kit from rennbay uses the brass cups I have used before and been more than happy with.

Just to finish this bit off . This is the kit you want from the states with the brass cup not plastic . As mentioned I went with the longer pins meaning the spindles have to be reamed out to 19mm but they do a normal pin height kit . I cant find kits over here with the brass cups.

Do you fit the Rennbay ball joints as part of an uprate Simon, or were the ones you have replaced worn? I can't hear any knocking, or feel any play in mine. Or are they well knackered by that stage?

If they feel fine and no knocking I would leave as is Paul .
I wanted the longer pins for this car but usually with the other cars , if the wishbone comes off I will change the ball joint as there is good chance something gets damaged when splitting and if you are going to change it you might as well upgrade to better design .

All hail the " Scoop " !
A teenage dream since "Hot Wheels " magazine and ZZ Top has been realized . I would have had the Mrs slip into a bikini and drape herself over the bonnet as of the era but that would have been the final nail in this dying forum .
And it is functioning as well so small children can lose fingers by placing their hand into it . The twin cam wheels do not clear the bonnet line . I did play with the idea of having the scoop the other way around to aid venting rad /intercooler but it just looked wrong .
Put the car on the floor for first time and all looked good . No idea what the front shocks are rated at but from porsche motorsport bin , some Bilstein for 993/964 , but seem to work well with the springs.
The 993RS discs look a little bit small against the 18" wheels but should work well with the big red calipers and light weight .
Going to run another Vems ecu as this engine was running it before in the other car so have it all mapped but looking to use a Vems wiring harness and stripping connectors of an old loom .
Anyway here are some pics .
