Re: 944 S2 Repair
Sorry both engines have gone to new homes . Just one in the engine and one on the stand now .
Been busy fitting the exhaust today . Its a 3" stainless steel item from AAS . Great quality /fit and Stuart even matched the price from a number of years ago on the other car . I have modified it slightly with a v band on the tie in from wastegate , couple of extra lambada sensor bosses and the downpipe he makes is 2.75" same as Fabspeed downpipe (half the price !) but I have a 3" v band from the rear of the turbo so added v band and got creative reducing the downpipe from 3" to 2.75" . Yes , I could have spent time making a true 3" downpipe but I don't believe this will be a restriction and I now want it finished .
What's nice is that we have managed to get it fitted slightly higher than last time so hardly any projection below the bottom of the sump now.

Re: 944 S2 Repair
Not yet Martin , but thank you again for the new alternator cable , all fitted perfectly .
Well after turning it over a few times with the fuel pump fuse out , fuse back in , ignition on and off a few times to fill fuel rail I turned the key and started first time .
Instantly followed by a jet of oil from drivers wheel arch . A quick glance showed I had not connected up the mechanical oil pressure hose ,doh ! though it did show I had good oil pressure ,80psi+ on the gauge when running again .
The map on the ecu from the previous engine has it running quite well for start up . First impressions are good , it is a fair bit quieter without any hint of piston slap just the empty tappets and the noise from the exhaust is very pleasing .
Still a couple of things to sort out before a road trip , idle control and the tps is not good . The tps thats on there is for an Mitsu evo and after taking some readings resistance is 4.8K where as the 944 tps is 570ohms to 3.7 k .
I read that Peep was doing a BMW tps to fit , does anyone know what model its from as I have had no reply from him for a while . I think its an early 3 series but nothing showing up in google search .
The Hartech engine lives.

Re: 944 S2 Repair
Thanks for the replies .
I found mention of a tps from a E36 so will take a little trip to the local breakers to see what they have . Its still one you can wander around and take parts . Maybe no E36's in stock with their values having skyrocketed but same engine in 5/7 series .
No Paul , not on facebook .

Re: 944 S2 Repair
I only went on facebook for the 944 groups, I can't be arsed with all the pretend "friend" stuff. There's a reason I don't talk to people I haven't seen for decades, I'm anti social.

Re: 944 S2 Repair
While waiting for some electronic components to turn up so I have control of the idle control valve , I have been playing around with the engine we took out .
Removed the sump and pick up to fit the dry sump pan I have and put on some parts that Jan at DRS sent me . I think it looks quite nice .

Re: 944 S2 Repair
I will finish building it up and it can sit on the stand in case anything happens to the engine in the car . Simple swap and already have the map saved on the laptop .
What is nice is that that map for that engine does not seem to far of for the engine in the car . Started first turn of the key .
Never done the dry sump thing so its different .
Would have to find room for the tank but I reckon just behind passenger headlight could fit 6/7 litre tank .
