If you do damage your rear lenses, drop me a line, I think I have a spare tucked away!

Spent another couple of hours destroying wire brushes in the transaxle clean up quest. I must order that alubright cleaner we discussed a while back which I completely forgot about until today

I put those LED bulbs back in today, one is definitely faulty. One was bright and one half bright which made the full beam light on the dash come half-ish on. This usually indicates an earth problem as I had this before on the NS headlamp and it was a earth wire issue.

So I thought I had an earth issue this time on the OS side. Then I thumped the light, and it came on full pelt! Stayed on all the way to the supermarket and lights really good. After loading the shopping in the boot, same deal when starting the car up. Half bright, half full beam dash light lit up, thumped the lens, and on it comes.

I can only conclude it is a faulty bulb as you don't solve earth issues by thumping a lens. I have reported a faulty bulb to the e-bay seller and asked for a replacement to be sent out. Worth noting all was good with the halogen bulbs fitted, so I'm happily calling a bulb fault here. See what the vendor comes back with.

I did. They are being a PITA about sending another bulb out. He wants me to physically break a the bulb and send him a picture before he will send another one out! Currently arguing back and forth about the ridiculousness of his suggestion........

Put it across a battery in reverse polarity until it pops. Send him it back and tell him to test it.
Thankfully, there are other suppliers of this type of bulb and the are inexpensive.

He wants me to break it and and send it him a picture, then he will send a new one to me. I am trying to negotiate a new one being sent out first so I'm not left with one halogen and one LED bulb in the interim. We are at an impasse...........

I'm being a bit thick here- I don't understand why you would be left with one LED and one halogen? It's only the LED that is defective - that's is the one he wants you to break and send him photos of isn't it? :?:

Yes, I meant in the time it takes him to send a new bulb out, I will need to put a halogen bulb in for that period, not indefinitely!

Anyway, I ordered a new set. Due to arrive tomorrow. I will then smash the broken one and get a refund on the first set.

The half lit LED bulb is still brighter than a fully working halogen one. When both LED bulbs are working, the difference is staggering and well worth a £17 upgrade. For anyone not bought them yet, and wanting them, there is 15% winter sale code on ebay taking £3 of the normal £20 price. Free delivery.

2nd set of bulbs arrived today, took 20 minutes to replace one bulb in arctic conditions, such a fiddly job when you have levelling adjusters.....

Anyway, lights came on perfect straight away, on and off about 15 times and all good. Also noticed the beam pattern was better with the replacement bulb. Although the other one was working/half working it appears when "working" it still wasn't 100%. Literally night and day now with superb lighting coming from both pods. I've went from driving with yellowy candles inside brown paper bags to up to date actual bright white light projection!

A bit later I went to the shops, via a completely unlit road, excellent lighting, delighted with the result.

I will get back in touch with the vendor tomorrow to get the duff bulb sorted. Would be happy to take a half refund and keep the remaining bulb as a spare. See what transpires.

I can confirm these are 100% direct replacement with proper legal beam pattern and a massive upgrade for performance and value for money.

Glad you have got the issue sorted and that the result has been worth it.

Thanks, yes definitely worth it.

The bulbs may well be cheap Chinese shite but if you get a couple of years out them then happy days. The results speak for themselves.

I may also have damaged the first bulb fannying about, it started flickering when my battery was going flat, that could have caused a melt down, who knows! It may just have been a duff bulb, guess we will never know!

Be interested to hear your feedback.
