Cleaned up the weld on the latest pair of struts to be modified ready for B6 inserts. Will be off to the powder coaters for a peppering with suitable media and then a roasting as soon as restrictions are lifted or I have work related items to take him!

I replaced the Gas Struts on the rear Hatch last Weekend.. Then, when I wanted to pull the Car out for a Wash yesterday, found that the Battery had completed drained.. :?:

After much investigation involving Jump attempts, Battery Charging attempts and Rear Screen Heater cable detachment, it turned out the Aftermarket Struts were shorting the Electrics..!

So, OEM Parts on their way..

thats interesting,

the olny one that can short out is the drivers side, and that would be the boot light.

after market ones do not have the correct ends on them so you have to swap them over, where did you get them, Mine are SGS engineering ones, they needed some modifications to work

My Sport doesn't have a Boot Light.. As soon as I disconnected the DS one the short was fixed, and the Car fired up..

no on the drivers side,

the power for the heated windows goes up the LH strut, through the glass matrix, then back down the RH strut to ground, the contact for the alarm is also at the same point

Pressure washed the outside of my washer bottle. (It's not in the car! )
Tried to test fit a later model washer bottle, in case it was an easy retrofit. Failed - it fouls the power steering cooler pipe and damaged the tank in the process. So that's confirmed it, the original one's going back in!

Noted that the above sounds crazy without the context of a project thread behind it!

Sorted out photos and worked out what order stuff happened in, in order to revive my project thread - last updated Dec 2013!

Now just need to work out where and how best to host the photos, as Photobucket is no longer the place to go!

Today I removed my clutch on 968, originally was just going to do RMS but then had a bad case of “ while you’re in there “ so now doing rms, flywheel and clutch hopefully should make the clutch a bit lighter.
Waiting for design 911 to supply flywheel locking tool, they never seem to keep much in stock but only tell you once they’ve taken your payment , but hey ho I can do a bit of tidying up while I wait.

Yesterday, I picked up some steel wheels, and then I ordered a new set of tires from 4wheelonline. I also fitted my newly rebuilt calipers.
