Im just not that brave! My fingers as well attached and functional, id like to keep it that too.

I enjoy cleaning the wheels up, nice leisurely activity compared to my daily life. I might get an hour on them this evening if I can get out of work at a reasonable time
If you can keep your head, while all around are loosing theirs. You've probably misunderstood whats happening.

Nice rainy day so decided to tackle a job I've not been looking forward too...torque tube bearing's :?

I paid some to remove the old bearing's so I am starting with a empyty tube are some soda blasting and a coat of red oxide it looked like this :D I will paint it in 2K black after the bearings are installed
Image

First job was to clean the inside of the tube so armed with a collection of cleaning solutions I pushed cloths soaked in the various solutions up and down the tube I considered it clean when the cloths could be passed through covered in carb cleaner and come out clean
Image

I cut lengths of 1" and 2" tube the 1" will be used to apply adhesive down the tube to fix the bearing in position just incase they move whilst installing the shaft......I used RTV high temp silicone adhesive as supplied with my bearing's

The tape on the rod marks the position of the bearing ..adding the adhesive onto the 1" rod I was able to place it a few inches away from the bearing final position the bearing will push and spread the adhesive fixing the bearing inplace
Image

in the photo bellow you can just see the adhesive all around the tube
Image

the bearing was also covered in the adhesive to act as a lubricant

using a MDF block and the 2" pipe I knocked the bearing in until the tape was aligned with the tube end

Shaft is a perfect fit :D

This will bolt onto the end of the Torque tube and add the jack to push it in with all the banging and hammering

Tomorrow we will see if it works

Impressive set of tooling you made there and those bearing look like they are going to last forever. Once your cars complete you could start a sideline rebuilding torque tubes. lol

Nice job Ken. I would have thought that this would have been a nightmare of a job. Would it have been difficult without your jig?
