Have to say, it felt fantastic driving it home yesterday with the new exhaust. Even in the snowstorm.

Definitely a throatier sound, deeper without necessarily being louder. I think I like it. I went for a basic oval tailpipe, nothing out-there looking although it's a good bit larger than standard.

Hard to tell whether it’s made any difference at all to performance. I doubt it, but you know how it is—your car always feels better when you’ve spent money on it, even though it’s mostly psychological!

T3rra: The wings and postage were 406 euro, so about £360. A couple of Porsche crests were just under fifty quid from Promax (a hell of a lot cheaper than via eBay for second hand ones and no different to Porsche Centre prices).

I haven’t unwrapped the wings yet, they were well packaged for posting and I may as well keep them that way until I’m ready to start showing them to bodyshops for fitting quotes. I’m still amazed by how light they are.

I know what you mean, I've never trusted my 'seat of the pants dyno' because it always feels better when you've spent money - even a simple oil change or a damned good waxing

Can you tell from the boost gauge if it is hitting peak boost maybe a few hundred rpm sooner? That is an easy way to tell if you've got less restriction and should be quantifiable (if you took note what it was beforehand)

I only have the standard boost gauge, so it’s far from accurate … but I’ll make sure I pay attention to it, good suggestion!

Slightly off-topic, I know, but I thought I’d share some quick (and dirty) photos of the exhaust. This was built by Stainless Creations in Falkirk. Three inches straight through from the point where the wastegate gases are flowed back into the main exhaust.

Looks good Tony, the back box looks a tad smaller than original, Is it?

It’s a little shorter but a little wider. I think. The one I had on before wasn’t original either!

There's a Union Jack flag top left to click and translate from German.

I do like that exhaust tip Ever so slightly larger than the original oval but you'd have to get your tape measure out to be sure. The first picture angle makes it look totally original.

Any update on the wings being fitted?

The wings are sitting at my chosen bodyshop ready to be prepped. I’m dropping the car off there on Monday next week and expecting them to keep it a fortnight or so.

My front splitter just arrived half an hour ago, so things are really coming together!

Fitting the wings is the single biggest expense of this adventure. I could have gained a good amount of horsepower on the car for the amount I’m spending on cosmetics instead …

Just had a phone call from the bodyshop. I was braced for bad news, but it turned out they just have a company policy of phoning with a weekly update! What a lovely idea.

The old wings are off, the new ones are on. Apparently they fit well. Next job is some slight work on the shape to get the panel gaps as small and even as possible and then take ’em back off the car for prepping and painting. Once they’re off and prepped I can expect a call to give me a definite completion date.

Slow progress, but progress nonetheless.

Good & bad news they fit well Tony! Good news for you & bloody bad news for my wallet!
Since I've failed to get a half decent pair of Turbo/S2 wings then this may be the route I take.
How long did they take to ship?

I’d wait until they’re completely finished and the car’s ready for some photos before committing to such a thing if I were you Jim!

I would note that the finish of the wings wasn’t perfect enough to even think about prepping them at home. They had some scratches, some moulding marks, some variation in thickness, etc. They definitely need some skilled work to get them looking their best.

From ordering to receipt was about a week and a half. Seven days for shipping and a few days up front while Marek waited for the funds to clear.

In the meantime, I’ve just received a set of scripted door handles from the States as well … they came up on eBay too cheap to let pass. Another job for when I get the car back!
