Good vid' :) Thanks for sharing it! Out of interest. And for future reference. How did the tyres & brake pads hold up?
Also how did the noise thing go. Your car sounds really quiet! Some of the track days I've seen have had way too many cars on track at the same time. But that looked about right!
944 lux, Eco car. Off the road more than it's on!
Audi 2.0 TDI Good but rather boring..........
944 now sold.

Tyre are now dead - but I either get or buy tyres with 1-3mm tread for peanuts and use them on a couple of track days before binning them - hence 2 sets of wheels. Brake pads are EBC Red's and held up fine. No fade, no problems but that could also be because I changed the fluid for ATE Racing Blue last year and fitted braided hoses at the same time. I used 2 litres of oil and shed loads of petrol, otherwise, no expense :)

The track was quite crowded for the first half hour and then again straight after lunch. Otherwise, no problem - it was a well run and organised day :)

An update on my 928 breakdown at Brunty. After checking by JDS Porsche it would appear the MAF has failed totally - an incredibly rare occurence as it was only fitted in January

Anyway John is sending me a replacement in the post so I should be sorted over the weekend :D

Glad you got to the bottom of it, did he say what the failure was (hot wire open circuit, they do 1000 deg C milisecond burn off at key off )..Is it in limp home mode or is it just a component failure and straight forward replace and run up ?

cheers

Apparently total failure of the electronics so a replacement is on route no questions asked. I know enough of John Speake's work to know this is extremely unusual and his after sales service and response to my problem have been first rate.
Looking forward to getting the old girl running sweet again :D

I finally found time to get the data off the PerformanceBox.

The graph below shows my best lap before and after tuition.

Red line = before : Lap time = 1 minute 44.49 seconds
Blue line = after : Lap time = 1 minute 37.59 seconds

As you can see, £25 for an expert to show you how you should be driving is worth about 7 seconds a lap. This has to be the best value performance upgrade available - and you can take it from car to car :D

Image

Now updated to show trace of speed vs. distance (not speed vs. time as before) so that you can see where, on the track, the biggest improvements came.

Everyone who had the tuition said the same thing after they came back in. 8 seconds is a big margin.

Yeah, the tuition was a brilliant idea.

My ever-so-technical driving analysing equipment (known as ‘putting Jen in the passenger seat’) told me that I was driving like a granny before the tuition and a racing driver after it. Case closed!
