hello everybody.

I just thought I'd say hi and I am looking forward to using this site.

I am more a VW splitscreen guy but during my time on the VW sites I have noticed that the 944's are quite reasonably priced if you search for a while, so here I am.

My name is jason and I'll be looking to buy a 944 in the not too distant future. I have my eye on a couple but 1stly I need to do a bit more research on clutches.

Jason

Hi Jason, welcome to the forum :D

If you want to get a feel for the cars, you could pop along to the Bristol Region's Club Night. Lots of '44 owners there who will be happy to talk through and show you what to look for.

Welcome Jason,

Just the other day someone had a 944 on here who wanted £1000 for it and I think it was a runner and on the road, which you can't really beat... unless you want a real massive project.

Hello Sean,

thanks for the heads up for the meet, I would of been there for sure but I will be back in Kent for a reunion, but maybe December.

Hello JMgarage,

I think I saw the one your on about and it has sold already, it was however an older model with the square dash and I'm after an oval dash, I'd really like a 944s (16v) but they might be a bit out of my price range but only just, maybe not if I get a good price for my Golf that might change.

oh well lets see what the next month will bring.

Jason

Hi Jayvanman,

good luck in your search. I'm only 4 weeks into 944 ownership, but thouroughly enjoying it so far. I bought my car from what seemed the most honest of honest people, but after an inspection at JMG some gremlins have appeared that the last owner appeared to overlook, and I did not spot!

My advice is once you have found the car you want, take someone along that knows these cars inside out. Otherwise happy car hunting :D

There is a car buying guide here, which covers most of it, suggested bedtime reading!

Hi,

back again.

well I had pretty much given up on the 944 idea and my golf continued to play up and I was getting more and more fed up with it and was on the look out for another car.

I got back in touch with "frenchy"'s friend and asked what he'd let his go for and after hearing I was thinking of getting a ford or vauxhall he let me have it for a good price.

The unexpected tax rebate was a big help and before you knew it i was on my way to the Lake District and coming home in this bad boy :D
