Hi everyone, thank you for the warm welcome :) . You must regard JMG very highly to make a round trip of several hundred miles to get your car serviced! I'm glad i followed evryone's advice and chose to use him too. I absolutely LOVE Black cars and have three in our family colection (my missus ML270 Merc, a Volkswagen T4 Campervan and the 944). When i get the 944 back from Jon it's going straight off to "Bodyworks" paint shop in Saltdean to have a full respray in...wait for it...Matt Black (18" Alloys too)!! Sacrilidge! i hear you all cry! I reckon it will look superb, lets wait and see. Having it wrapped will cost the same as a full respray so...what the hell, why be in the sh1t knee deep when you can be in it up toyour neck? Photo's will follow as soon as i get it back from JMG.

Yep JMG's the tops for me. I'm sure they will look after your Turbo for you.

A word of caution (from experience if I may) regarding the 18" wheels, don't dump the 16" before you have tried the 18's: they may look better from outside STANDING STILL BUT I've had 3 944's, the previous one was an S2 it was on 17" and the handling was not as good as my 1st 2.7 944 and now where as good as the Turbo on its std 16". Appreciate a Cab is not as good handling as a coupe anyway but do a search on wheel sizes for other members views on their experiences on Non Standard wheel sizes.
HTH

Hi Clive, ive heard that 18's are no good for 944 Turbo's, especially on track but, when i drove down to JMG early on a Saturday morning, i gave it "the beans" and it handled brilliantly! Stuck like Sh1t to a blanket! I'm going to take it on track before i decide and give it "what for"!! If it fails miserably, then i will be back asking for advice on wheel/tyre sizes and combinations . That's if it's still in one piece!!

Hi and welcome to Porsche fun and the forum. I had 18s on my 944T and tramling was pretty bad, ask Jon how I know and found out :blackeye:
Jon will advise you to put 968 castor mounts on if you decide to go for it.
Is your username a nod to a former pride n joy

Hi Andy, yes,i used to own a 650 bhp Skyline R32 GTR and, before that a Nissan Pulsar at 400 bhp. They were both bottomless pits into which i poured money (fantastic cars and great fun though) :D. So, now iv'e got the car iv'e always wanted and i intend to keep this one and fully sort it out over the next year or so 8). I notice you now have a R33 Skyline. How do you rate it compared to a Porsche? IMHO the GTR has more raw and brutal power than a 944 Turbo (only just) but, the 944 is streets ahead in the "handling" stakes. I also found that a lot of skyline "tuners" wanted the earth to produce not very big power or performance gains whilst, i have found, this is not true of Porsche tuners in general. What do you all say?
Pete

Hey Pete! Great to see you made it in here!

Shame you could not make it down yesterday, but one of the lads had a cancellation for a service today, so I issued him to give you a couple of free bits this morning, namely a boost gauge and refacing your front brake disks to sharpen up your brakes that little bit more. :)

Look forward to seeing you as soon as you can get down, and to see how you like the new smooth running car :)

Hi Pete. Saw your car down at Jons other day, you'll love the drive back after it been breathed on by Jon and boys  I always did. I love both cars really but yeah the '44 flowed from one corner to next where as I tend to drive the Gtr like a muscle car , take the corner and blast it as I come out and let the 4wd and 4ws sort out the traction. You can certainly tell the difference in the size and weight of the cars and how they react to your driving style so maybe the Gtr suits me at the moment as the '44 tried to climb a tree after it fishtailed up the road
