Hi there can anyone answer this question please? When my car ignition is turned on to the first click my heater fan is opperational which is normal i think. The real question is even if i turn it off i can still hear and feel it blowing. Am i right in thinking this is not normal/right?
I have tryed it in all the positions and it seems to pick up speed everytime i turn the fan speed up. I did initialy think that position off/0 and position 1 were somehow stuck due to a faulty switch but all positions give a different fan speed. Am i missing something? I thought off would meen off. Any ideas or comments are welcome.
Oh the car is a 89 944 s2 cab.
Thanks
Nick

Re: interior fan question
Certainly off should indeed mean off! Is it off even with the key removed, and running down your battery?
I would be tempted to take the switch apart, or just replace the switch. The contacts could be dirty, or even broken and joining the wrong things together.

Re: interior fan question
Take the weekend off. This is normal.
With the key in the ignition but in the off position, the fan will run on a 944S2. It did on all 3 S2s that I owned, so don't worry about it.

Re: interior fan question
@Steve, all the 944's will continue to run the radiator fan with the ignition off if necessary, but the interior fan is just for personal comfort, so no reason that any car should run this with the ignition off. The circuit should be dead with the key out anyway.
I'm not sure if this post is about the radiator fan or not:

Re: interior fan question
Hi Nick,
"Fan Control Switch Knob
In order to ensure air circulation even with the vehicle standing or moving at low speed, the fan is running at low speed even at switch position 0. If you desire more air flow, the fan can be switched to steps 1 through 4."
No. From the owner's handbook:cabme wrote:The real question is even if i turn it off i can still hear and feel it blowing. Am i right in thinking this is not normal/right?

Re: interior fan question
So it runs the fan constantly? That's quite a battery drain.
Edit: didn't read it properly. So the fan still runs in position 0 on the fan switch, but not in position 0 on the ignition key.

Re: interior fan question
Fan won't run with ignition off and key out, will run in accessory mode ie no ignition light but radio on

Re: interior fan question
Thanks guys for the help.
Looks if i will need to rewire the radio to a perminent live, If i'm out on a pic nic its sometimes nice to have the radio on in the back ground. I dont like the idea of a flat battery.
Once again
Thanks
