Mike - I'm hoping it might be worth more than £800 after I'm done but that does seem to be the going rate for them!

I've checked glovebox light (I think I've read about 15 pages into these threads trying to understand common problems), shall try the earths and see what that leaves me with!
In terms of the water leak the hoses were disconnected under the boot pins so that bit is sorted now, the back seat was also wet which I think is a bad sunroof seal and the drain pipes being blocked. Will have a look at them once I have all the interior out - had a quote for replacement carpets of £275 which seems good, went round the factory and they do good work.

This weekend I've got a load of parts coming so I can finish off the belt change, got 25% off at euro car parts through the golf gti club which saved me at lot of money!

I'd love to do the classic but have friends going to the race proper and can't do both, plus I've never been to the race before.
