next I set to work with the jig saw and router to create a base to mount the components (the big bit) and then the pieces that will eventually form the new floor......these bits fit well but I will fibreglass them in later to create a perfect fit, the cut outs will have removable lids to access the battery and cubby hole etc

this is alot of work but getting it right affects the finished look

OK now the fun part the Sub is going in.....see how flat it is the top is made from rubber and is load bearing so this will form part of the actual floor.......the black vinyl at the end of the sub will be visible everthing else will be covered

Thats really nice. That Amplifier is scary, its so big.
Youve done really great job there. The sounds in a standard 944 are really rubbish.

Make sure you make a video of your first switch on and share with us. I would be really interested in hearing it.

I have started collecting parts for my car. I have a Becker Grand Prix and some small round speakers that look really good quality (i forget the name just now).

more of my audio install....rain stopped play and got talked into going shopping :( .....£200 on a new handbag for the wife........oh well that will turn into £400 for the porsche at least

anyway decided not to fibreglass the top board as I did not want the car smelling for the next 2 weeks so I made a cardboard template of the exact shape and taped this under the board.......then formed a card flange .......so I can fill this with fibreglass filler

Looks really good. Did you just screw the wooden base 2 the floor? Did you put any rubber in between? Or will that sound deading work like that?

How's acesse 2 the rear lights now? MIT be worth putting some hinged acesse or something? Or at least renew all the spade heads and clean them up so you know u shouldn't need 2 get back in there in a while.

Saw some speaker grill in a mk2 golf that had a wived mesh and vw logo look really classey 4 vw

Hi t3rra

in the base of the floor there were 2 tapped holes ...don't know what they are for but I used them to fix the base, I glued 1" foam onto the board to stop rattles etc, It takes about 1/2 hr to remove the whole thing, I forgot about access for the rear lights  so I will cut some access holes they will not be visisble once the top deck is installed .

this isn't for the pureist's and if the quality is not spot on it can look naf, but Im very happy so far it just takes time this install has taken 9 full days and I recon I've got a few more to go !

Looks pretty clean so far. Was thinking just the other day how the 944 don't really have a parcel shelf 4 rear speakers and a stiff shelf rather then a cover blind wouldn't look out off place. What about some speakers fitted in the acesse made 4 the rear lights? If they were slightly hinged maybe you could tilt them up so they faced in 2 the car rather then towards the glass? if you needed any more

So are replacing the rear carpet or striping it from it's backing? Just wondering if you plan on keeping the hump in the spear tire place, with no spear wheel it quite a good place 4 storage. I put all my work colthes and tools in there. how your going 2 fix the upright. use the poppers?

got enough speakers  , actually it works well to face them upwards and bounce the bass of the glass, I have never been happy with the rear carpeting the carpet on the sides of the trunk has a tendency to sag slightly been the fixing's and across the back between the lights the carpet allways seems messy and curls........so I have attached velco on the sides and hand stitched this to the back of the carpet works really well but is a bugger to do! I am going to install a new carpet and velco it in place just need to find some that matches, I have re-dyed all my carpets so so the black looks really black and I have had new edging vinyl stitched on so it will be no problem to exactly match the rest of the car, I'm not bothering with the spare can of tire weld and RAC membership will do

I will have access to the spare wheel well via the hatch that is going in

Did you get any further with this?
I have a Becker grand prix and by all accounts this needs a separate amp in order to get the best out of it.

I am keen to try and emulate some of your work for a small amp and a couple of speakers.
