Used the 944 as a run around today, the clutch felt weird & got progressively weirder including the pedal locking down a few times. Just made it home & it needed pumping to disengage. A quick check revealed the reservoir nearly empty bu99er :?

Mine had a slave around a year after I bought it, so around 5ish years ago. Not sure if this has gone bad or the master is no knackered. It isn't ideal weather to ferret around under cars at the mo!
Berlyn wants around £90 each for the clutch hydraulics, anyone bought them recently can tell me a better price?

I'm sure Jon Mitchell will knock 10% off for starters before you even phone anyone else. Worth the call.

Funnily enough I had the exact problem a couple of months ago. I'm suspecting the slave as the rest appears dry even though I changed it when I did my clutch. Anyway, as I use my car daily I put some more fluid in to get me moving and that was a couple of months ago, Ive only had to top it up once since. So thats worth a go to get you moving, also you can buy re-build kits which are about £18ish.

Investigated today & found the slave is dry, the master doesn't look bad either. Since the pipe is solid it has to be the master so will order one & swap it. The fluid has disappeared & isn't in the master cyl gaiter or anywhere else, confused!
Checked the cam & balance belts today, bot bone dry & no cracks.... May very well leave them alone although they are 5 years & 42K old. TBH the engine in mine is all oil leaks, I think from pressurising the sump so shoving belts on it is a bit of a waste.
We'll see what happens in the future. If the worse comes to the worst & it goes bang in anyway then I'll get it swapped.
The S2 engine sold Thursday so that isn't an option any more.

Similar thing has happened to me today but I have about an inch or so travel in the clutch pedal, just about driveable. Didnt lose any fluid but changed the clutch master - still the same.

It is obviously contagious! When the slave went it only just weeped & lasted a week before I did anything. That time te slave was damp but both slave & master are bone dry outside yet the reservoir has around a 1/4" in it! The pipe is OK so we'll change the master & see what happens

When my master went no fluid leaked out but the piston went to the bottom and stayed there. The seals had swelled up and fallen apart so it got stuck at the end so I nabbed the master from my other 944 and all was well again.

With your pedal not coming back up I assume a similar thing has happened to yours but don't know where your fluid has gone. While changing the master it might be an idea to change the flexi pipe there too if not already done (or at least give it a quick visual check), mine was cracked horrible but unnoticeable until I removed it from the master and checked the underside.

Well confused now!

OK changed the master having got one from JM. Took two attempts to bleed it but seemed OK. Took it for a test run & still OK. Went shopping today & made the 9 mile trip back with the pedal on the floor! Long time since I've driven with no clutch & a 944 ain't the best. So checked & the fluid level has dropped so will order a slave & admit defeat  The slave is around 6 years old, found the receipt for it today. So jack it up for the 3rd time & remove starter....

Did both on mine Jim. Saves time & frustration. Also replaced the hydraulic line as a precaution. Why I spent a bomb on mine but it's running like a dream at the moment! :D

Line looks fine but peed off that the slave has only lasted 6 years or so, bearing in mind the previous one lasted 3 time that! Now confused as to whether the old master was kosher or not :?

A lot of the new parts are made in Hungary or similar. Unless you find something dusty that says made in Hamburg on it like my drive shafts it's just the modern world. Buy a Fiat Panda it will be goosed before you hit 40K miles! Just the way it is. Bought 3 DME relays before I found a German one!

Just ordered a clutch slave from Promax performance. By far the cheapest of everyone. Guess where I'll be laying later this week

Well after changing clutch slave & master & going through 3/4 litre of fluid, the problem finally was.... a crack in the hard pipe about half way along, in the bell housing area where it is impossible to see. New pipe was well under £30 from Tonbridge OPC so fixed easily enough.
Been out for a run in it today & it seems to be fine. Got the local Lithuanian car wash place to clean it & it looks a lot better. Still need to get the grease marks off in places & it needs another light cut on the paint & a polish. Need to put some miles on it in the next few weeks as it is off with another 7 TIPEC SELNK cars to Laon in France for Circuit du Historique for the May Bank Hols.....

I was wondering about Vim or Ajax

No it normally comes up with AutoGlym Paint renovator & a good SRP & then Auto Balm. Because it sits out uncovered over winter this is a normal cycle every spring. It then looks OK for the summer.

Disappointed with the finish on the sills though, the paint & stonechip has flaked off badly after a few years so will need to deal with that at some point.
