I need to replace my water pump as I have no history to know when it was changed and various internal parts are looking rather rusty. I've found this one on ebay which is currently very cheap (won't stay that way but you never know) and was wondering if you lot thought it was worth a punt or not.

Would be nice to save a bit of cash on this as then I could crack on with buying other parts needed to get it back on the road.

Only problem is that it has no warranty

There is that but if it's cheap enough it may be worth a gamble unless it has complete failure and knackers the belt.

From what I can tell the main different is the blanking plate at the front. I'm very happy to be corrected though.

Well if its going to be some time before its back on the road, then any warranty starts when you buy it, so It could well be worth it

I believe they are all Turbo pumps these days, just need the blanking plate off your old one.

Ask them what make the pump is? Bargain if is a German made one like Lasso, etc. Non turbo pump as the small hole in the front of the pump casting is not there,

Thanks for the advice. Will send them a message.

Also I meant to speak to you about a balance shaft sprocket and rear timing belt cover. Don't suppose you'd have both of those?

Have you checked the price of new water pumps from America on ebay . £100-£110 delivered .
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Porsche-944-944S-924S-924-S-Water-Pump-Gasket-/140497395976?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20b64c2108
They're made by Hamburg Technic Germany although i doubt they have been any where near the fatherland :? . China or Taiwan would be nearer the mark . I was considering one myself but ended up sourcing a new Laso pump for a few extra £'s which was also from the states .
