I acquired some wheels a few months ago, quite legitimately swapped for some 944 wheels. So I've ordered new tyres, Toyo Proxies TR1's all round. I thought I would give them a quick refresh myself before putting them on the 928.
While cleaning, I took these photo's,

Once they were clean,

And the first one painted,

I've got 3 more to go and then the clear lacquer. Due to the rain, I'm having to do it in the shed. Still, as long as the car looks good when I'm finished.

Looking good Lee. However, when 'the wife's' out you'll be able to do it in the kitchen, It's amazing what you can get away with when 'the wife's' out  I wash my muddy running shoes in the kitchen sink when 'the wife's' out, but if she's in they get thrown in the garage still muddy. If I take a part off the car and clean it I almost always end up washing it in the kitchen sink - unless 'the wif'es' in when i sit outside with a bucket. She never seems to notice all the Fairy Liquid has disappeared - but hey, white kitchen sinks take some cleaning before 'the wife' returns :D

Of course I always deny doing anything if she suspects.

I know.... you've all done it

 Your right John, I put the cam covers in the sink a few months ago. I got caught once trying to fit car parts in the dishwasher. I was banished to the shed for days after that one. I really want to build a garage again, after the internal one was turned into a bedroom for the monster in law ( turfed her out and my daughter moved in  ).

You have the expensive split rims. Mine are just plain. I think I should have come over and got Roy to do mine too. Been thinking about the centre caps like you said. I've got plastic ones. How do you paint the recess?

If you mean how am I going to paint the recess on my center caps when I get them, I think Ill have to polish them up to nearly finished standard then mask it all off just leaving the crest expossed then a few coats of paint on the crest, then buff back the paint on the raised area to the metal, then polish again. It works in my head not sure if it will work in practice.
If you have plastic caps I would just key them up, spray some plastic primer then paint with the same paint as your wheels. Should look excellent when all done.

Yes, I have plastic ones. I think your right, I'll key them up and spray them silver. I'll show the finished ones. If that doesn't work, I'll coat them in carbon fibre and put a TIPEC sticker on them like yours. I think they look good.

They were the center caps that came on the split rims, and were just plain flat silver caps that were screaming out to be tarted up a bit. And I had recently received a few samples of carbon effect film, so it just seemed right at the time.

Your car looks good, you should pop a few pictures up on the introductions section for everyone to see. It is a very nice car.

Yeah I was going to do a build thread, but I am struggling to find my early pics from when I first got it. There on a disc somewhere in the hundreds of CDs stacked in the hall. The car is going through a few changes for this summer, hopefully for the best.

A wee picture of the car with the wheels on. I stole it from a friends facebook page, so not the best to show off the wheels.
