Hi all,

Does anyone know what the reason might be behind my indicators not turning off when after I have gone round a corner? I can hear a click like I have turned the wheel enough but when i straighten up they don't turn off. I know that the previous owner had to replace part of the dash so had the steering wheel off. Could it be he has not put it back on correctly or is something likely to be broken?

Thanks in advance for your help!

James.

Sounds like the canceling unit in the steering wheel is worn out apparently this is common as the plastic parts wear out on the indicator unit, I think from memory you can either buy a replacement indicator unit or try to either extend or make good the canceling unit within it which is obviously cheaper.

I would take the wheel off and have a look at what is worn out you may find the wheel is just out of alignment and not catching the canceling unit properly. Mind your face when you pull the wheel off it has a habit of coming backwards quickly and hitting you.

My thoughts exactly. Could use some chemical metal ( gule won't work ) 2 make the worn plastic longer, or u MIT just need 2 get the wheel a mm or so closer. A tip I would say is make sure ur parked stright, b4 u remove ur wheel, and if u can do it on a hill, as the nut always falls out the socket when you feed it though the hub. It make sense when ur doing it, horn pad come off with force don't be scared of braking It.

After removing the nut from the steering wheel it's handy to make a mark on the spline and wheel with tippex or something similar so you know you're putting it back in the position as before.

I got the part from Sulzeruk on here. He is not far from you and might even be at the monthly meeting in a couple of weeks in Bo'Ness. Try sending him a message and he could drop the part of for you. It took 2 minutes to fit.
