I have a 86 944 auto. I need to top up the PAS.

I've been to local motor factors and Halfords and am now confused by Dexron.

It seems there are different Dexron's (II and IV). There are also specific power steering fluids.

NOW, I used to run a Citroen DS and the difference between putting red LHM or green LHM into your system can be huge and mega costly.

The Comma sales manual says that Comma AQM automatic transmission fluid that 'meets Dexron II' is fine for the auto box, but there is no mention of the suitability for the PAS. Similarly, Halfords make no mention of PAS fluid in their little bound books.

I am assuming that this will be fine and that it was what was around back in '86.

However, the question is..is this AQM Dexron II ATF Ok for the PAS in my 944?

I have just done a top up with AFT-Q Dexton II, seems ok at the moment, £2.99 for 500ml

Matt, that should be OK. If you really want to get anal then look it up in your handbook & get the same approval code.
