Can somebody tell me how much an aircon condenser costs? (genuine part) Obviously I could ring the Porsche dealer, but I need to know before tomorrow morning.

Hi :)

I "THINK" the genuine Porsche ones are around £1700, but don`t quote me on that...

All the best Brett :)

£1700 just for the condenser? (fitted in front of the main radiator) Surely it can't be that much!! Do you not mean the compressor?

Well the well-known USA suppliers charge around $600 for condensers for the later cars (I believe the ones for the earlier cars are much harder to source), so, as a rough guess I'd say £600 from a radiator supplier or £1000 from Porsche.

Having said that, five years ago I got a new condenser for my S2 for around £200, so it probably pays to phone a few specialist radiator/aircon places.

Hi :)

Oops I mixed them up....

Here is what you want, its Richard Armstrongs pages with rough prices, although they are a couple of years old so add say 20%....

Richard Armstrong is who arranges the annual 928 track days and works with Paul Anderson on X-Pipes etc and is THE MAN for 928 aircon systems...

http://www.ritech-systems.com/928/Maint ... etail.html

Looking at that page I would guess in todays prices around £500 to £ 600 ish...

All the best Brett :)

The 928.573.021.00 condenser is £347 ex-VAT.

I needed one when headlamp motor went bonkers and arm drove into one of the cooling loops at side, and was able to get a good used on on ebay for £65.

Thanks for the information. The car is in with a 928 specialist at the moment in the continuing quest to get the aircon working.
They tested it and say the condenser needs replacing, they say that they fit BEHR condensors (think that's how you spell it) and who was I to argue. I assume that is an aftermarket make.
