not sure if I believe this one, but see below;

*Be warned and be careful !*

*M25 and the M11 will be equipped with Point to Point speed devices.
from August 1st 2009*

Once you enter the M11 for instance ,you pass a camera that takes a
photo of your car and registration number and records the exact time,
upon exit another camera takes a photo of your car and registration
number, and records the exact time you leave the motorway.

The Cameras are set at a fixed points. With both the start time and
finish time, a computer is able calculate the time it has taken for you
to travel between the two fixed points, and works out your average speed
and how many miles you may have travelled over the national speed Limit,
and If you have completed the clocked journey too fast you are given a
speeding ticket.

At the present time the national speed limit for motorways is 70 M.P.H.
For every minute that you drive over the speed limit you will incur a
fine of £30, and one point on your licence . the fines will be issued
automatically but the MOT will be allowing a variance of 10% for 3
months, which gives a top speed of 77 mph until the end of October 2009

The MOT will at a later date add cameras at all exit points along the
motorways. Remember that now with the new legislation, fighting speed
camera fines is almost impossible. You must prove the device is faulty
and if you are not a technician working on them, you have no chance of
beating the fine

*You Have Been Warned *

I had my suspicions, there's always someone out there looking to have a laugh at the motorists expense

Its worth remembering that changing lanes does not lead to evasion...you will always pass two cameras.

I know I did a speed camera course at Coventry...(its part of my job but we don't enforce)

Hi,

They can't issue you any fine if you remove your number plates  If this is to go ahead, I can see a large increase in the amount of number plates getting stolen.

A lot of plates are fitted using sticky tabs these days.

It would be terrible if these people aren't doing the required prep work to ensure that the adhesive sticks strongly enough :laughing6:

Does anyone know if the following are true?

The text regognition system cannot read text that is on two lines bsuch as the plates fitted to japanese cars.

If your car is fitted with a 'show' plate with a model number etc (darn I forgot to take it it off) but the actual registration number is shown on the bottom in tiny letters then the bottom then the most you can be prosecuted with is having your letters too small.

Hi :)

1, Although THE CAMERAS find it hard to recognise several lines of text,,, they then reject it for a HUMAN OPERATOR to examine....so it depends if its recognisable to a human....IF it is, you get the ticket in the post ...FINE+ POINTS.... :(

2, Non standard plates (like I have) but never use on the road of course.....will get you a £60 FINE (just gone up from £30) but NO POINTS....

Hope this helps :)

All the best Brett :)

plates must now have either a BS or EN number and the post code where they were made to be legal and pass an MOT
