944 S2 , changed all my belts and idlers ect. Once running there is a slight whistle....all belts re tentioned.....whistle....swapped some idlers still slight whistle. All belts off and new water pump. Still slight whistle. Disconected power steering and alternator but still whistle. Is this just the noise that goes after 1000 miles or am I missing something?
Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Never heard it called a whistle, belts whine, new 'uns more than old ones. Is it running OK, inlet leaks can cause a whistle.

Check all the pipework as well, it could be a cracked rubber pipe.

Maybe it is a new belt whine........all the pipes are OK and the inlet manifold is tight. It annoys me though........

Did the retention change the noise? How tight should the belts be, the cam belt has an auto tentioner.
