They just offered me £3k - £100 excess. They can stick that where the sun don't shine. I'v got to collect some evidence of its value.. Has anyone had to do this before?

Ok, you need to find a few that are up for sale and similar in age and mileage to yours.

I can do you a valuation.

When you are sorted you can come round and buy mine :)

I had a similar situation many years ago when someone ran into my TR7 Convertible. Her insurers wrote it off and offerred £500.I ended up having to pay for an automotive engineer to assess its pre accident conditon and value.I ended up with £1700 and I kept the car , which I then sold on for £700.Its a horse trading game , so stick to your guns.I would have thought you should get closer to 5K for it.As Sean says , do some research and get him to qualify your valuation.Good Luck.

I'v just sent them a letter with a load of adverts for 944 cabs all between 7 and 10 k.I pointed out things like the disirable colour combination, It's garaged, has an LSD, Just MOT'd and a load of other things. I'd take 6 for it but 3 is just taking the piss.

Managed to squeze another £1500 out of them. Apparently it was a cat C before the guy before me had it.
£4500 is a good deposit on a Boxster S I think..

Did you get to keep the car? £4500 and the sale of an engine, gearbox etc doesn't seem like a bad deal.

Nah the car's not included in the settlement but I will ask them how much they want for it. if they'll let me have it for reasonable money I'll probably pass it on to someone here 'cos I'm a bit sick of spannering for a while at least.

Talk about thread resurrection...

I do believe that I am currently having the pleasure of rebuilding this car! I think it was the 'Ben' keyring I found under the seat that gave it away.

Ben enjoyed pistachio nuts - quite a lot by the vast amount of shells I found under the seats, together with a jumbo box of Wrigley's Extra gum. It was marked BBE sept 2009 but still tasted nice and mint in 2014!

An LSD eh? Didn't realise that - could be interesting!

How much was it and what do you think it will cost to fix ? Good idea to take some photo's before and during the repairs.

Haha ... I think it would be rude to say now (but I have posted it before) but I've probably put close to 2k into it on top of the purchase price which in total is not much more than it was settled for....

There have been a few pics of it already but TBH there are plenty of resto threads going on - mine's a bit ordinary by comparison ... I might stick a photo up later today when I've got the paint finished...

So you're a few £k into an S2 Cab that's twice been an insurance write off, are you planning to keep it long term ?.

Not sure if the fact that it's been written off twice is an issue - as far as I'm concerned. I've done the reparatory work myself so am confident that it's all ok - besides which the damage was all cosmetic so in reality it makes no difference whatsoever to the integrity of the car.

At the end of the day - and the project - I'll end up with a motor that I can genuinely say has come back to life as a result of my efforts and mine alone. My plan is for it to be a long termer - I wouldn't have put so much effort into it just to move it on, I don't think that the profit I'd make would reflect the work I've put into it, but having said that it is exactly the car I wanted when I was lucky enough to pick up my first 924 which - the profit on which I made incidentally - was what gave me the capital to invest in the Cab. Besides, my daughter has already told me that she wants it when I'm dead haha ..

Yes - I know I could have probably bought a running tested S2 for the same money(ish) but this way I've learned more about the inside and outside of MYcar and met a few decent blokes as I've gone along...

YMMV of course ...
