Just got off the 'phone to the insurance co.
The offer is in the post as we speak. Over the 'phone they've told me it is £3495.

I think that is acceptable.

Still gutted though :(

Time to start looking for another. You'll still have change for a boring car if you look around :)

Rich

Already have a decent runaround sorted. Couldn't wait for them to come up with the money as I can't really walk or bike to work practically.

thinking about trying a boxster on for size sometime though..

Was this the first offer Adam or a negotiated (up) offer? I think I'd have pushed for 3,995

Hi Jimbo

It was the first offer. In their own words they make a reasonable offer to avoid negotiation.
Have to say 'twas a good deal better than I expected (although I've not got it in my grubby mits yet)..

See you friday neet,
Adamski

So how does that work then? I thought "Agreed value" meant that they would pay you that figure in the event of a write off.If your "agreed value" was higher than £3495 (and I guess it must be if they are making you an "offer")then why are they not paying that figure? Would it have been different if someone had run into you and written it off? I know values are low at the moment but I havent heard anything from my insurers to say that they are changing the agreed value to reflect market prices. :?

I made a mistake. Last year's policy was agreed value, not this one.
All in all I can't really complain at what's on offer I guess.

Seems a reasonable offer all things considered. With that money you're almost into a Turbo :D

Any idea what they did with the salvage?

They guy from the salvage co. told me they will try get something for it at auction, but I suspect it will end up being broken. The interior alone must be worth a fair bit given the condition.
