Over winter i want to freshen up my leather seats, need to treat the faded areas and buff up. Is it possible to get them looking almost new?. At the moment they have that shiny look to them which i don't like. What products are you using. Anyone got any before and after pics??

Spent a chunk of today cleaning my leather. Had already tried soap flakes. But since some of the muck was oil it didn't shift it. These were really dirty. Used a product called Gliptone leather cleaner. Worked really well. Had to use a nail brush & scrub. (Which you aren't supposed to do.) But I'm pleased with the results. Seats are dry in minutes. Also got some conditioner. Might have a go with that tomorrow. Drivers seat needs a new panel but might as well give them a good clean first. Also cleaned the door cards & leather trim on the dash. I've discovered that Linen leather is a whole different colour! Actually went there for some scuff remover. This is leather dye that they mix for your exact colour. But the seats were so dirty they said clean them first. (They do mail order but you have to send a sample.)
(The two bottles cost £11 & I have half the cleaner left even after 4 applications to the drivers seat!!! Took a couple of hours.)
Applied some conditioner next day. Like hand cream for leather. It soaked it up as I put it on. Looks much better even though the drivers seat is still cracked & split! Huge improvement to door cards & dash. Now do I get the drivers seat repaired professionally. Or just stitch it & do the best I can with Gliptone liquid leather? Won't be perfect but the money saved would buy a new clutch.
Highly recommend this stuff. The guy himself said I should scrap them & get another pair of seats as they were so dirty he didn't think they would clean. But they did! Smells fantastic too. Loads left over.
Conditioner should be used in any car with Leather no matter what age every 3 mths. That way the seats will never crack. If only............

You should be able to get a good sized sample of clean leather off the rear seats. Recline the top section, pull back the boot carpet, then remove one of the clips at the bottom of the seat back. There should be plenty of extra leather folded over here.

Don't forget to use a brush on the seats as well, not too firm but give them a good old scrub when you use the cleaner.

It will also, get the residue out of the perforations.
