I think today we have witnessed more anti Hamilton decisions in Farcical 1.

First our man gets a drive through for forcing Raikkonen off in the first corner, ok, he was late on the brakes but the actual contact was made by Kovalainen, who escaped penalty and was one of several other drivers to go wide. I’m no expert but I can't remember another instance where a drive through was given for a first corner incident.

Then Hamilton pulls a fair overtaking manoeuvre on Massa when the Brazilian went wide at the chicane, only to cut across the grass and nudge Hamilton’s Mclaren into a spin. In my opinion, most of Massa’s speed had been scrubbed off and the nudge was both deliberate and dangerous, for which the punishment was a simple drive through!

The race was certainly nothing to write home about and clearly the 1 point that Massa gained on Hamilton was not enough, so to cap it all, post race, Bordais was given a 25 second penalty, dropping him to tenth and giving Massa an extra point!

I’m struggling with this one, racers are penalised for racing and the results are altered to suit the most influential players and it all seems so blatantly obvious. :?

Yup a very messy race, not really made my mind up about it yet.
But yes yet again Hamilton gets stitched, god knows what qualifications you need to be a steward Stevie Wonder or KKK?

I don't disagree with the first corner incident but the simple fact is all he had to do was stay out of trouble and finish the race near to Massa (who was already several places behind. He messed up the start, then tried to make up for it with an extremely late braking lockup (which ruined his tyres) and then he stuck it up the inside of Massa and lost another 30 seconds after the spin when there was NO NEED as he had to come in for tyres anyway.

You can't win a championship at the first corner. He threw away last years championship and despite being a great driver I think he's going to throw this one away as well. He needs to learn to calm down a bit. 8)

Actually ne needs to learn to calm down a lot! :D

I agree with you Paul, Hamilton seems to cope easily with the pressure for the first 3/4 of the season then the red mist comes down and he goes for moves that will never work. He has proven time and time again that he can overtake so he should have slotted into third and picked the other two off one at a time.

What about Massa's overtake on Webber? Webber blocked once (which he is allowed to do) so Massa actually left the race track to overtake. If he'd gone the other way he probably wouldn't have made it so is that not an unfair advantage? if so where's the 25 second penalty? :?:

Aye, I was expecting Massa to be penalised for that move. Or at least I would have expected a penalty if he were driving anything other than a Ferrari.

Hamilton was stupid this time around. Threw his race away and it was nobody’s fault but his own.

All in all, the least exciting Grand Prix in ages—but maybe that just shows how much fun the past few races have been?

Hamilton was a numpty and so was Massa. They both deserved their penalties.
It's Bourdais I feel sorry for!
He gets run into by Massa the Messer and gets a penalty for it? WTF!

I would think Hamilton will have a week of anger management before Dennis lets him back in the car.
He doesn't show any patience or control when it is needed. At Spa he had plenty of time to make the move on Kimi but had a go into the Bus-stop. If he'd waited til the straight he would have been passed and no worries
Similar attitude in Fuji has got him into difficulties for this years championship.

Same attitude meant he lost the championship last year.

I might get some grief for this one, but we are all entitled to our opinions / observations.

The best way to watch the F1 is not to support anybody but to congratulate the ones who do well. That way you don't show bias in your arguments. This website is very bias towards Hamilton, when the ones who deserve the applause are the ones in lesser cars (so everybody bar his team mate and two Ferraris) who do well and occaisionally win. Hamilton has to realise that he has to win the races for himself. Unfortunately he seems to have a rather immature and arrogant approach. He knows that he is expected to win - so thinks that everybody should let him. He thinks (wrongly) that everybody in the UK is behind him - wrongly because the longer the season goes on the more he peees people off with his attitude. He thinks that McLaren will 'fix it' for him everytime he messes up - hence some of his moves.

When he wins he generally deserves it because he drives well and is willing to take a chance, but sometimes he takes a chance when it's not necessary - as with yesterday morning. His chance taking caused Massa to go on the grass, but because of what happened to Hamilton when he did it to Raikonnen, Massa probably didn't want to pass Hamilton on the grass (which he could easily have done) and then have to give up the place and get penalised 25 seconds. I think Massa was in a catch-22 situation and should not have been penalised. You are the author of your own destination, and in this instance Hamilton's impatience cost him.

As for the Bourdais accident, Bourdais was coming out of the pits, effectively joining a busy road from a junction, therefore should have taken more notice and given way, although at the same time Massa could have taken a bit more evasive action as he was approaching from behind and should have made allowances. They should both have been penalised for this one.

But then again, I'm not making the decisions. If I was I'd be giving out points to them all for making the race more interesting to watch.

I agree that they both could have taken a little more care and gave each other more room, but Bourdais did mount the kerbing at the apex of the corner to avoid a collision with Massa. Massa just assumed that as he was passing a Red Bull he was entitled to turn in on him. Crazy to give one a penalty and not the other. Well done to Alonso and Kubica as well. Alonso drove faultlessly and Kubica did well to escape the clutches of Raikonnen.

I try not to be too jingoistic though obviously I would like a Brit to win. However I would be really pleased if Kubica actually sneaked it this year. He has driven well and behaved well all year in a lesser car and could easily steal it if the glory boys at the front keep squabbling with eachother

i'm with you on this, altho it would still be nice to see hamilton win it, it is becoming a bit too much tit for tat with the on track antics between the prima donnas at the front

that's not chance taking, you could get three cars in that gap and they still wouldn't have touched massa
