Well the Blue Rocket has arrived and is stonking. Big thanks to Jon Mitchell and team for reviving this classic and not breaking her up for parts. She arrived Wednesday evening on the low loader and that got the neighbours curtains twitching. Been finding out what the various switches do and which work and which don't. Guy came round today to look at the sill's and roof that need spraying. He's going to get back to me which doesn't sound cheap. Still, plenty to get on with, polishing and detailing inside and out.

Hope to bring her down to Dyno day on 25th, be like returning home for the old girl.

If it's going to be painted soon then don't slather all over it with polish and wax beforehand. One tiny spec of silicon will cause the fresh paint to 'fisheye' quite dramatially and your sprayer will have to do it all over again and delay the time it gets back to you. Of course he should be cleaning and degreasing the panels properly before spraying but why run the risk :?:

Concentrating on interior at moment with the Gliptone leather restorer and replacing umpteen screws missing from the trim. Some Previous owner/mechanic liked to glue things, it's everywhere the wiper speed control, solid. The electric seat switches, fallen off and inside, solid. Just given a quick shampoo so I could see the proper colour, where the scratches are etc.
Can anyone tell me what the line is around the drivers side of the windscreen. It looks like a heating element, it's runs up the middle of the screen, across the top and down the edge of the A post. Haven't noticed an electrical connection like the rear demister has and it's actually inside the glass. Is it some sort of drivers visibility aid like a magnifier?
Well off to adjust the rear seat, the catch is not locating properly so have a constant rattle.

External polishes don't use silicone for this reason but some dash cleaners & rubber black products do. Even cleaning it properly it can be a pain to get rid of.

Looks good in that colour. Think your referring to the radio ariel that's in the screen.

Top Man that would explain it now you've said that  . Now I've just got to fit an audio unit to fill the hole in the dashboard.

AERIAL one of my pet hates as I was trained as a radio tech

There is a small box at the base of the windscreen which is the Amp for this. When you wire the radio there will be a black (I think) wire in with the coax aerial lead which needs connecting to a 12V supply (auto aerial normally) to power the amp otherwise reception will be naff...

Good job we live in the age of CD's and MP3 :) Or not fit anything and listen to the turbo whistling away :D :D

Well the respray quotes are coming in. To let in a small patch in front wing behind the drivers side wheel, line up with new sill (It's come adrift), fill and smooth the joins and spray both new sills, £300 to, wait for it, £1000!! I said I just want the sills painting not the whole car! Hope to get the work done in the next two weeks. :)
