The 968 was first on the list today

So the ICV came off in the end - hacksaw made short work of the hose clips....
Looking inside it, there's a lot of crud...

Looks like someone has tried to seal this previously

so a bit of Gunk later it's flushed out although I think a parts washer could have made things even better.

Tested the valve with a battery using 12v +ve to the middle pin and -ve to each outer pin in turn... couldn't hear any click of the solenoid/ motor or see any movement.... but it was really noisy where I was and difficult to see inside whilst not touching +ve to -ve!

Refitted the cleaned out valve and it didn't really make any difference at all to the difficult starting. Without any throttle it simply would not fire. With a very small amount of throttle it eventually fired up and idled quite ok initially but then became rough again. Blipping the throttle almost stalled it.
Gradually opening the throttle and she revs up fine and then settles down at idle again... Slightly lumpy still but not as bad...
Took her out on a run and gave it some revs in 1st and 2nd and after a few stop/ starts in traffic and getting home the idle is fine settling around 950 to 1000rpm.
My thoughts are that the test in the valve whilst still full of crud didn't tell me anything but have cleaned it out and it being used by the car, effectively freeing itself a touch could have solved the issue...
I may be wrong yet but I'll try her again in the morning to see if the problem is still there.... Let's see what tomorrow brings!
Rothmans 924 was next to remove the rear seats for Stef and Gareth to put in their next project!

The 944 wipers will be next but for now we're off to Oulton park in the Rothmans for some rallying and fireworks
