recomissioning 911

Post by lehelp »

Hi chaps, I imported a 964 from italy, and after that it has been in storage for almost 1.5 years. Last time the car has been started in 2015 febr and that time everything was fine.
Obviuosly the battery drained as the alarm was on. Now, I charged up the battery, and the car is ready to enjoy (hope)
Do you have any advice or precautions how to start after such long time?
The engine hasn't been turned over since.

Some other problem, hopefully not too big and maybe these needs to fix first:
- when I connect the battery, the horn starts beeping. I think the reason is because the alarm is active.
- the lock works on the passenger side door, I can lock it by key or by the knob inside. (Without the battery connected) I can't lock it on the on the driver's side door, both by knob or keys. This problem might be in relation with the horn beeping/alarm.

I think I need to sort this 1st because i wont be able to start the car if the immobiliser blocks it.

Any advices is well appreciated.
Many thanks guys.

Can't comment on your electrical problems, but would suggest after you have sorted them out that you turn the engine over by hand to ensure its free, drain the oil, change filters, take out the fuel pump relay, spin up the motor, check you have oil pressure, refit relay, hopefully, all good.

Reset alarm by locking and unlocking the drivers door with the battery connected, works on a 993 but you may have a different system.
