Just an update, my latest emails asking for the parts to be replaced have been ignored so i have given the garage a week to replace the part or order a replacement, no reply!
But one of his customers saw my car in there and is willing to back me up in court, so i have given him a week then i will fill in a online small court claim.
As for why did i not notice the difference in levers. the short shift kit is still fitted at the back, this makes the biggest difference, rather than the lever itself, and the box was the wrong one, from a smaller engined 944 and was noisey so i knew it was a short stop gap box. i just thought it was worn!

Good luck with this, TBH though I'd walk away and put it down to bitter experience over a £50 gear lever. Sounds like you dodged a future bullet by avoiding the place in the future.

Can't we just all go round and fill him in?

I'm in a particularly bad mood today and would really benefit from putting someone's head through a wall.

Stu!

I am reading this with an open mouth!

I was working for this company at the time (as were 2 other users on here) and have since left due to "friction" with staff.

I remember your car (obviously) and even drove it back from the paintshop when you had work done, I also remember the gearbox being changed and when the short shift kit was originally fitted.
If I remember it correctly you fitted the gear lever part yourself and Tom (a mechanic who left) fitted the rear part.
I cannot remember who fitted your gearbox, but I do know it was done and the 2 people who would have changed it.
I hope that helps, I will vouch for you.

I am amazed Richard is not accepting this, he knows the kit was there, he knows we had some rough staff come and go, and as you are local and a friend, im amazed he has not just replaced it for you with a huge apology!
A funny was of running a business and one of the reasons I am not there anymore.

PM me if you need any help.

Thinking on it, i'm sure you had an alloy gear knob with that gear lever, does that also fit the standard gear lever? Is it fitted now?

Hi Sumpcracker, Many thanks, and yes the alloy gear knob fits the porsche flat profile lever, which was the same profile as the short throw lever.
and on removal of the rear short shift kit i noticed it was bolted onto the upper mounting point, keeping the shift the same as standard.
This would explain why i did not notice any difference. i just thought it was me!
I have ordered a billet item from lindsey racing this time and making up my own rose jointed bar from the box to the lever.
THANKS

I have done an online small court claim, i believe i have enough to win this in court, but i am waiting for a reply, its a shame as the garage has lost a lot of local business, i am getting the sills done on the cab and a full respray, and i want a respray on my red S2 as well.
I will post the results on here no matter how it goes, its a shame it came to this because it was the last thing i wanted!

I now have a full refund for the gear lever and the cost of the online court action.
I should thank RS Cars in Greenfield, but i wont, it should never have come to the point where i had to go to court.
RS Cars sent me a cheque when they received my court action, but to deny working on my car, well words fail me!!
I now have found another classic car specialist that will be respraying both of my 944's and fitting a new roof on the cab.
My business and that of another local porsche owner will now be going elswhere.
On the plus side the new lever i have seems much sturdier than the one that vanished.
And in changing the box myself, i also dinitrol'd the underside of the car, modified the rear cross brace to stop my home made exhaust knocking, fitted new adjustable rear spax dampers, new discs, and had the rear calipers refurbished and painted red to match the fronts.
if i had paid the £400 asked to change the broken box, none of this would have been done and my quick shift would still be in the slow std setting, and i may still not have noticed the missing lever.
I am starting a blog on my porsche mods on my website, please have a look.

Fantastic result Stuart. I admire your determination. Just shows what can be done when you know you're right.

Good to see there was a positive outcome with this. All too many times I have seen this not happen.
