Anyone put in a new foam into their seat bolsters themselves or via a trimmer? Any recommendations or hints? A how to link? And no, I don't want a 12-18 month wait for Southbound for some foam.

The seats are all in pretty good condition considering the age. But the metal support is starting to be felt as the foam is getting crushed/broken down on the drivers outer seat base bolster so I'd like to sort it sooner than later. All the others are perfect. Hopefully I don't have to dismantle too far to get this done

Looks fine in this pic

Most good trimmers can make up the foam and will have different densities
I think they did some on my seats when they were re trimmed

Thanks Jason. First idea was to buy the foam ready to go and attempt it myself, if its feasible without messing it up and needing any special tools/clips/fixings

Sorry can't help on the foam but your seats look really good and I recall you used some fabric paint to restore the colour to the script fabric. Do you recall what product you used?

Thanks

I rebuilt the Base on my drivers seat (standard seats not sport) as the foam had also collapsed so I picked up a spare passenger seat and swapped the foam over = proper thigh support and no more sagging seat

Removing the seat cover was easy enough but a set of hog ring pliers make life so much easier and using string to pull the metal bars down towards the seat frame to reposition the hog rings makes it easier.

The side foams are bonded to the centre piece so making and fixing a new one wouldn't be to difficult I don't think.

Good luck!

Hi
It's a every easy repair the foam splits where the metal rod is but the foam is very thin in this area and it is not practical to add more
What I did was glue the existing foam together then cover the whole bolster with trunk liner
Works a treat and costs pennies to do!
Damage on other parts of the bolster just need a bit of foam gluing in I did post a how to thread but bet it's deleted now :(

Vaughan Green can do this in his sleep. He replaced foams for me 20yrs ago. In Loughborough.

These are another set of seats in original black. The previous beige ones were painted with black VHT vinyl spray paint

Perfect.

Had just one local trimmer get back with an estimate. 4hrs work max at £40 an hour. Think I'll look at buying some foam, trunk liner and contact adhesive. How hard can it be?

PS, said the same with fitting the headlining. Never again!!

Can you point us in the right direction for the lining fabric and the right type of foam too. please?

I still have the seats that I referred to in the previous thread.

Have you looked at the foam? is it crumbling away or just lost its shape? If its the latter then you could rebuild it using this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Armaflex-Arma ... Sw14xWQQRy I have not done it on my 944 but I did use it on my old car to re build the bolster laying it down in a criss cross pattern.
