hi,

I am restoring a set of brembo 4 piston front and rear callipers from a early 944 turbo,

what I am trying to find out is, are the calliper piston seals the same as the later S2 brembo seals ?

cant seem to find listings for the early turbo, and do not want to order the S2 seals only to find they do not fit.

any help and guidance appreciated.

cheers roy

Early brembos have some unusual seals.. or rather not so much the seals but they do not have dust boots but instead have a scraper ring.

Seal kits cost a fortune for the earlier brembos and are typically only available from Porsche, but they are so expensive it is almost unrealistic to rebuild them.

Some of the caliper places which rebuild these must have a source though, I just have not ever found it.. I can get individual seals for all the brembo's I just can't get the scraper rings for the early ones.

Having said that, there is always a chance that yours might have dust boots and are from a later car than you expect, a lot can happen in two to three decades, the calipers might already have been changed in the past so what you think are early turbo calipers are actually late ones.

Do a search on google and you will see the difference between the two calipers. but you have to see a photo to "get it"

thanks for the info,
typical why is nothing straight forward.

they are early ones and do not have a dust boot, that was the thing that was throwing me when looking at the available seals.

the seals seem in good condition so my refit them and see how they perform as it was only a cosmetic refurb and getting rid of the plate lift.

cheer roy
