I was going to buy a new oil cooler but decided to have ago at re-furbishing the old one first,
Image

on closer inspection it seems the leak which I thought was from the O ring was actually from the bonded fitting on the cooler....a quick twist and it came off

Image

looking at the fitting it was corroded so a friend made me a new one :D
Image

cleaned the cooler with petrol and removed all the old adhesive, Aluminimum oxidise's very quickly so you need to bond with 15minutes of mechanical cleaning......I used a structual Acrylic 2part adhesive .....I had an expert spec this for me and he supplied it as a free sample :D it take 4 minutes to bond so you have to work very quickly...not quite as neat as Porsche do it but close :)

Image

so after hours and hours straightening all the fins and then 4 coats of heat resistant paint I ended up with this :D :D

warming up just enough to continue with the rebuild so finally fitted the newly refurbished transmission oil cooler
(looks scratched in the picture but just the refection of the flash)
using all the original OPC fittings £9 each for the 3 bits of pipe that go around the cooler is mad[&:]

then nice warm job in the house, cleaned the cooling fans and motors[:)]

They are very busy and behind schedule, they were only taking orders though Germany at one point, I think you need to be one of their regular customers to get anything done

I tried mailing their German office but nothing came back. Like you say I think it's account holders only now. I've found a company that makes alloy and steel plated liners so I may go that route if I cant get Capricorn involved.
