There's a plethora on the Bay .... not interested in ultimate performance but decent stoppers would be nice!

Any thoughts on Mintex or Apec?

Cheers

Greg

What type of driving do you do?

Pads that work well on a track tend to need more warming up than road ones.

I don't think I'll be doing any track stuff, but there again (like most of us) I'd like to think that my driving style is "progressive". I think what makes me realise that my brakes aren't what they should be is the fact that my T5 van stops quicker and with less effort ...

That would be twenty years of brake development and a much more powerful servo

Out of those two it is much of a muchness. Either should be fine truth be told. I'd avoid EBC regardless of how cheap they are (I have only ever tried the GreenStuff and Reg90 (allegedly OE), and Bendix pads (on my daily they have been horrific on the last two occasions I bought them). I'd be tempted to spend a little extra on Textars after my experiences on the daily. I would have said to change the brake fluid but I see that you have already done this.

IME 4 pots are always a little wierd to brake with with poor initial feel (my Escort on brand new Wilwood 4 pots is a litle iffy from the off (it stops well, but the feel is not as good as a sliding caliper design or even a 2 pot IME) as was the 944 on the Big Blacks).

So - back to these brake pads ...

Mintex OE @ £24

Apec OE @ £22

Brembo @ £52

Textar @ £ 56 (from Germany)

Pagid OE @ £62

I know which ones I'm going for but which would you buy for your daily drive?

Greg

Hi I work in a local garage - we source most of our stuff from euro car parts - we use apec or pagid depending on customer / car - and in 12 years of working there have had no problems with either ! Paul

As with everything it all depends on whether a bean counter has stuck its useless nose in!
EBC were fine until about 6 years ago then they broke up and ceased to work well.
Good names get ruined by being cheapened by lower spec stuff scourced cheapy Chiny.
