Hi Folks! Open question -

The 944 series carried a boot tail spoiler, as we all know. The later 968 has an open rear spoiler. Which works better? I would have thought the former, as the rear window/tail spoiler work in unison with down force at speed. I am not aerodynamic type educated, so is the open 968 spoiler just an adaption to the design to sell or does it serve as an advancement to the handling of the previous 944 models?

Most people seem to think the later spoiler looks much better. My experience was the front end felt very light at high speed without the undertrays fitted, so I don't think the bridge spoiler lacks rear downforce.

According to the blurb in the MY90 brochure, when bridge spoiler 1st appeared on the turbo, the new spoiler is an aero upgrade on the old rubber one. It provides more down force. It also looks better imo!

I wasn't far off terminal velocity  when the front felt very light on my car. It's the most uneasy I've ever felt while riding/driving fast. Now the under trays stay on and a front splitter is on my to do list.

I lost the undertray from my 1988 250 which had a rubber rear spoiler and it suffered similarly. Very light at 120mph and not pleasant at all.
