The 944 has big box section sills that rust internally . Just do a search on here to see loads of threads about it. The 968 is totally different construction, with plastic over- sills and are much less prone to rust.

I really like your 968 - though I guess it'll polarisation opinion in terms of the colour.

I guess they are no different at resisting corrosion but the construction / design provokes a different rust experience. Year 91/92 944s are being scrapped/broken due to uneconomical body repairs pending. There is simply not the same thing happening with Year 92/93 968s. Rust tends to be much more restricted and less severe too. Plus even the lower front wing issues don't exist.

I guess you love your 944T. I can understand why.

For me, the best of both worlds would be the 968 Turbo. Even if that consisted of a 968 with (only) a 2.5Turbo engine.....

Production line address does not matter...supplier and supplier material sourcing does. How they performed the galvanic covering of the steel body..process...quality control..etc. thats what matters.

I'm not saying the 968 is more prone to rust, i don't know that but what i know is that on the VW golf mk3 the first place you will see rust is under the plastic covers of the sills or wheel arches. Water and dirt stays there together with road salt.

Well... strictly speaking Audi built the 944 in their plant at Neckarsulm (formerly the NSU plant). That is apart from some MY 91 S2 Coupe and Cabriolets which were built in Stuttgart.
