944 S2 Immobiliser Problem

Post by Nick K »

My first post on this forum - so hello to everyone.

Typically for a 1st post I suppose, I need some assistance please. I have an '89 944 S2 and have often thought about removing (if possible) the original immobiliser as I find it's a right pain to stick the blade into the steering column in the dark before turning the engine over. I live in an area of the country where we do not lock cars/houses etc. at any time of the day or night so having a working immobiliser/alarm is not really necessary.

I am now going to have to sort out this damn immobiliser out now though, as I've just tried to start the car and the immobiliser will not turn off, so the car will not turn over. Is there a way of bypassing/removing this useless piece of electrical equipment ? I have a small silver 'Porsche' key with the ignition key which looks a bit like an alarm key, does anyone know if this is relevant ? It has the letters 'DM' on one side, Porsche logo on the other.

I would be grateful for any type of help/assistance/advice. Thanks in anticipation.

Nick K.

My S2 was later than yours and the little key was a master key, I have one for the 911 as well.

No experience of plug in immobilisers, always had fob activated security.

i have removed the original immobiliser on my red 944s2, it was a pain of a job, pulling all the wires out and re joining the wires on the back of the ignition barrell.
Some wires were to short so had to be changed. i was stripping the wireing harness down to the bare essentials any way and have no carpet or trim, that helped.

Thanks Stuart - I'm going to pull it all apart and do the job myself so thank you for your most useful advice. I've other cars so I can take my time and also learn during the process (and maybe do some other long-overdue jobs at the same time). And thank you Sean for your comments.
