Just to move things along a bit I thought I'd share my modding activities from last weekend. Put a B&M SS kit on my 996TT on Sunday. After reading various reports about notchy-ness I was a little dubious, but hell, I've had two manual M3's, it can't be any worse than them! Anyway, installation was a couple of hours, as with all these things I could probably do it much less now I know how The result is fantastic & has transformed the shift action. It's very, very slightly notchy but very nicley clicky, the std feels slick enough although a little remote & long (well it does now). The B&M has about 35% less movement & a great mechanical feel. Higly recomended. btw, the B&M is OEM for the ss option from Porsche themselves so I believe. I picked mine up on a recent US trip and saved a few bob too. ![]() http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id=products&sid=4&cat=3&subcat=15&pid=187 |

Sounds good, something I've always thought about but thought it was a bit pricey. |

Well, the components are first class. I'm pretty sure B&M are the OEM for the Porsche original part. Cost was $230, so about £110 + 2 hrs fiddling. these guys ship to the UK. Why not take advantage of the ridiculous exchange rate? http://www.vividracing.com/ |

I fitted an OEM GT2 shortshifter to my 996 turbo with the help of the guys down at BS Motorsport. As you say a much better feel. I think they should be fitted as standard. The notchyness may be down to slight adjustment as the guys down at BS motorsport had a plastic key that centralised the gear stick to place the cables in at a set point. Kind regards Mark (911smark) |
