After cleaning the car on Saturday, I decided to go for a quick spin. Two hours later (ok, not so quick, you know how it is once you get going  ) I pulled onto my drive to find fluid leaking all over the floor. On further inspection the coolant reservoir looked to be the cause. This seems a common fault with the 996. I removed the tank on Sunday and found that the back of the tank does have a hairline crack in it. This is a pain as the tank was only fitted 10 Months ago and I have done less than a 1000 miles !! I doubt the manufacturer will replace it, so it looks like "shell out" time :x . Anyone know the best place for 996 parts that actually last more than 10 month's ?

I think its worth going back to wherever you had it fitted. 10 months isn't very long - a coolant reservoir should out last the car!!

I did take the reservoir back and they agreed it was a manufacturing fault with the unit. A brand new one arrived today :D

I got it from Martin Brown of Porsche Tech (Next to Shirleys). As stated in a previous post, Martin is, and has been, a great help since I bought my Porsche, I cannot recommend him highly enough for the advise and service I have received.

Thanks for the offer Lindsay  . Hopefully, I should be able to re-install it :study: I think getting all the air out of the system may be the biggest challenge?
