Hi, As a new member to the forum I was hoping some one would be able to point me in the right direction of a good outside car cover for a 996. Thanks in advance. |

I'm not a big fan of outside car covers, I've seen them do more damage than they prevent. A well waxed car that is regularly washed will stand up to the elements very well. |

Hi & Welcome Pepi ![]() I'm not a fan of covers either, they have a habit of chaffing paintwork & can cause a LOT of damage. |

i have used covers on cars for the last 8 years, never had an issue, came back from a 250 mile round trip on sun, had a quick check, no dirt or muck and put it on, ready for the rain tomorrow ![]() |

I second that comment - strong wind + car cover = damage. A couple of coats of a good wax applied every couple of months and hand washing weekly using good shampoo and two bucket system should see you through the winter. |

yep - don't like covers either Get the car detailed / prepped correctly and the wax will bond well to the paint and last, if looked after |

another vote for no car cover....... i have one but only put it on when the car is clean. WHich of course is a real pain if you want to put it on after a drive. |

Well in the end I bought one from Halfords, all the logo ones were silly money Paid £60 quid for a the layer and have stuck a Porsche logo on it. It has mad a big difference as the condensation now collects on the car cover and no water marks after storage. |

Just be ultra aware that the edges can chaff and cause no end of scratching and swirl marks. I'll never forget the bloke at South Central (Malc) whose car was so bad because of the cover, he managed to get some sort of compensation from the company he bought the cover off. |
