Dear all, just noticed an hissing from my 996. its a pipe just behind the sill just back from where the door ends...drivers side..its hissiing bit of gas, flourescent green goo which evaporates. held in place by a rubber support. i am guessing its air con. Can i just mend the pipe ...then of course need a regass. Might use a bolt on sleeve see if i can stave off a full strip down and a new pipe ...until weather is warmer for working under teh car..Any thoughts...?

will it harm anything still running it ?

thanks Ian.

Just turn the aircon off and it will be fine

Sounds like you should speak to a specialist. I would have thought that if your air-con is leaking as badly as you describe, it's best not to run it, but speak to an expert. Also check the condition of the radiators at the next service - the air-con rads are forward of the front wheels, through your splitter, and behind the coolant radiators. They are very vulnerable to corrosion and my point is there's not much point getting other parts of your air con repaired if these need replacing.
