Hi guys,

I’m new to the forum so this is my first post. Hoping to get some advice. I’m looking at purchasing a 911 997 in the next week or two. At the moment I have two that I’m interested in, a 2006 C4S, and a 2005 C2S. I’m concerned about the infamous IMS bearing issue and bore scoring. Does anybody know if the 2006 model had the bigger IMS bearing? I was under the impression that it was gen 2 onwards (2009), but read somewhere that 2006-2008 used the bearing.
Secondly, the C2S that I’m looking at had an engine build three years ago, not by Hartech, by a Indy named Purely 9 (Paul Stevens) in Yately, would you consider a rebuild NOT carried out by Hartech as I’m sure it’s only the Hartech rebuild that negates the IMS issue?

Anyway, I look forward to your responses,

Much appreciated

Lee

2009 on, Gen 2, doesn`t have the IMS problem.

C4s in my opinion is the better car, looks wise at least, but some prefer the C2 as a more `pure` drive.

Late 2005 had the revised IMS bearing, it can be researched using vin number.

After April 2006 ? will be double the road tax than the 2005 car.
