Found a nail in the offside front, almost in the sidewall, still up ok and drove 50 miles home, but it needs sorting. The tyre is original, fitted from new in 06, Michelin Pilot Sport. Found these at Mytyres ... Michelin Pilot SPORT PS2 and .. Michelin Pilot SPORT PS2 RO1 Which one should I go for ? Thanks Pete |

you need to match the existing tyres or replace in pairs. Can the puncture not be repaired? |

If the hole is not too big and it is not located within I think 5% of the edges of the tyre then get it repaired, I've done it several times with no bother and my car is as hard used as any and I've been around the ring a few times like it. |

if its near the side wall or not in at 90 deg, scrap it IIRC if its within 25% of the side wall its can't be fixed |

If a tyre is repaired properly, there's no reason it should let you down i've had tyres repaired on my 928 and 993 never ever had a problem and i didn't drive them like my grandad |

If he says scrap it I do, if he says repair then that's what I do. I've driven at over 170 for over an hour abroad with bursts over 180 on a repaired rear tyre with no adverse effects plus regular ring visits. The only foolhardy bit is spending more money than you need to. |

Everyday driving, I agree, I would also repair (If advised), But for racing at over 170mph for an hour with a repaired tyre,I'd pass on that one. |

This happened to my two week old tyre recently. The nail was just on the shoulder. I left the wheel at the garage who sold me the tyres, they took it to somewhere in the Wirral where it was properly repaired with a lifetime guarantee. They brought it back for me too. Advantage - only cost £20 and they did all the leg-work. The going rate is normally £40 - they just like me for some reason (somebody has to). Disadvantage - it was off the road for a week, sat on axle stands on the driveway, but that allowed me to get underneath with the pressure washer and clean loads of crap off. So get it repaired and save a fortune. |

IO have a bit of a phobia with tyres and I would never have one repaired and run it on anything that had more that 80bhp |

Looks like a divided opinion on this one so down to personal choice. |

Had a new one fitted and then bought a full set of 997 turbo wheels and Pirelli P Zero Rosso`s. Got a bargain, but they`re not going on `til the salt`s gone. ![]() |
