Driving home last night I heard a loud clonking noise coming from the offside front of the car. Pulled over and had a feel around and found a piece of the coil spring had snapped off the top. Managed to get it out with a bit of twisting and pulling and continued my drive home. I have a 2005 05 Carrera S with 29000 miles on the clock and was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar occurence on their vehicles. Are the standard opc replacements the way to go or is it worth uprating them and what are the costs involved. Kind Regards Tony |

Quite common on 986 and 996 you should find another single or pair on ebay It's a shame Porsche don't offer a full suspension M0303 kit like they do for 986/96 |

They do break - I've had a front and a rear go since my 997 ownership started. Maybe go for a full set of Eibach springs? |

Front nearside spring snapped at 24,000 miles and were replaced under warranty. That was in 2009. Intend to fit Eibach when required. |
