![]() ![]() I new to the world of Porsche and after some solid advice. I am looking at buying a 997 that's currently advertised on Autotrader (Spec; Metallic ARCTIC SILVER, FULL LEATHER SPORT SEATS, 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, SATELLITE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, PHONE PREPARATION, 19 INCH CARRERA S ALLOYS, REAR PARK DISTANCE CONTROL, FSH, Full service history, Full leather interior, Porsche Communication Management system, Leather interior, Automatic air conditioning + active carbon filter, 19" Carrera S alloy wheels, Porsche stability management (PSM), Headlight pack-911, Porsche sound system package plus - 911, Satellite navigation, Parking aid, Electric windows, Alarm, Air conditioning, Leather seats. 4 seats, FULL SERVICE HISTORY MAIN DEALER/PORSCHE SPECIALIST, 62000 MILES, £19,950 Reg. YL05 YTE) Last year I was forced to sell my Jag XKR convertible to keep the business afloat and now things are on the turn I want a car to fill the gap until I can afford a 5 litre F-Type. This 997 seems straight and for the money good value, but any tips as to what I should be looking for an a car of this age (despite the usual). My weekend car is a Lotus Elise 111R and so I am expecting a better build quality! All help, much appreciated. Cheers CD |

Hi there, I think the main thing is front rads, clutch and breaks. A book of stamps doesn't really mean FSH, there are break fluid flushes and such that should have been done too. Are the tyres N rated? If they cut corners on tyres, they might have cut corners on other things? |

I can get the cars history checked out by a contact at Porsche GB and I always call and check the validity of the service history, so should feel confident or destroyed after that! ![]() |

If it's a good car then I'd pay that for it. ![]() ![]() |
